On the eve of the 2019 Melbourne Cup Carnival, The Asian Executive was pleased to host its seventh annual Melbourne Cup Carnival Charity ball in conjunction with co-host, The Victoria Racing Club.
One thousand corporate clients from around Asia and Australia attended the gala charity event it has now become one of the biggest and most prestigious Asian corporate black-tie charity dinner event of its kind in Australia.
The Asian Executive thanks principal sponsor, Lexus Australia, major sponsors, Pomeroy Pacific, Multiplex, UEM Sunrise and Pitcher Partners for their support of this internationally-recognized Spring Racing Carnival event.
The main theme of the gala was the importance of Melbourne’s Spring Carnival in the Asian Century and the traditions of the Carnival which is part and parcel of Australia’s own culture.
Net proceeds from charitable efforts were dedicated to Guide Dogs Victoria, one of Australia’s most trusted charitable organizations.
In a spectacular evening, part reverence for the traditions of the Melbourne Cup and part extravaganza, the evening commenced with the entry of the City of Melbourne Highland Pipe Band with a traditional march medley made up of “Scotland the Brave”, “Road to Gundagai”, “Waltzing Maltida”, “Green Hills of Tyrol”, “Amazing Grace”. This segment of the evening concluded with a stunning stage performance of “You’re the Voice” sung by Michael Cristiano and Lisa Edwards.
Master of Ceremonies, Candice Wyatt, Senior Reporter and Presenter for Network 10 (A CBS Company) officially welcomed guests and presented Hayley Teal to sing the Australian National Anthem followed by “Heroes Live Forever” – a tribute to the rich history of the Melbourne Cup Carnival. Guests gave Hayley a standing ovation for her stirring performance.
The 2019 Lexus Melbourne Cup Trophy was presented to the packed Palladium at Crown audience by VRC CEO, Neil Wilson with official speeches presented by Lexus Australia Chief Executive, Scott Thompson, the Lord Mayor of Melbourne, Sally Capp, Co-Founders of The Asian Executive, Rick Wong and Grace Lim and Guide Dogs Victoria CEO, Karen Hayes AM DSJ.
Following intermission, guests were treated to an over-the-top tribute by a 10-piece band backed by state-of-the-art visuals celebrating the wild dance music of the eighties.The formal vote of thanks was presented by the Partner of Pitcher Partners, Michael Langhammer
