The Asian Executive together with major sponsor TFS celebrate at the Grand Hyatt Melbourne. As it was at the beginning, the former Lord Mayor, John So of Melbourne AO helped celebrate the occasion by the cutting of a magnificent cake with its two founders and two original supporters.
On 3 June this year, The Asian Executive celebrated its eighth anniversary in the same function room as when it was official launched by the then lord mayor of Melbourne, John So. Eight years on, John So kindly agreed to return and help the founders of The Asian Executive, Grace Lim and Rick Wong celebrate its growing success with a cutting of an enormous birthday cake in front of 200 executive clients of the magazine. Sharing cake cutting honors were two of the original supporters of the magazine, Konfir Kabo and wife, Monica Lim.
Guests were honoured by the presence one of Australia’s greatest cricketers, Adam Gilchrist, who graciously assisted the unveiling of the special edition magazine for the occasion.
Other VIP guests included Madam Judy Wong, Director General of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office, her colleague, Mr. Alex Kuo and Mr. Bruce Atkinson, President of the Legislative Assembly.
The event was proudly sponsored by publically-listed company TFS with the second half of the evening dominated by an interesting panel discussion about company’s massive Indian Sandalwood operation in Western Australia. Founder, Frank Wilson and senior executive, Duncan Caldwell were in their element describing their company’s success, which is in effect the world’s leading Sandalwood operation. Master of ceremonies, Tony Gigacz (master tax accountant) and Dinesh D’sa (TFS executive) navigated through the complexities of the subject with great skill and finesse.
All in all, the evening was an excellent networking opportunity for a special occasion with a solid message about an important Australian primary industry topic.
